Separett Villa Extend in Glorious Off-Grid Cabins Within the Trossachs National Park

Dreamcatcher Cabins, located within the Trossachs National Park north of Glasgow, is the brainchild of Brian and his loyal wife and family. The couple, a former teacher and gardener, wanted to change the pace of their life and decided off-grid cabins that brought guests joy and an experience of being close to nature, was the way to go.

Centred around stunning wooden cabins, the notable aims of the project were:

  • Minimum environmental impact
  • Maximum guest satisfaction
  • Help nature flourish around us
  • Improve our local community
  • Employ young adults with additional support needs from local Green Routes organisation
  • Use only solar electricity
  • Donate % of profits to local charities
  • Laugh a lot along the way
  • Create the most unique, relaxing and memorable stay

Within months of opening, they were proud finalists in the Scottish Rural Awards – it’s not hard to see why!

Dreamcatcher chose the Separett Villa Extend waterless composting toilet. The Extend is based around the same urine-diverter as the standard Villa, but has a 50-litre external solids collection unit for a lower maintenance overhead and ease of access from the outside. Utilising the natural slopes and raised floors meant the Villa Extend was straightforward to incorporate.
