Weybourne Beach Car Park adds a second Kazuba waterless toilet

As part of its commitment to providing sustainable solutions for visitors to its coastline, North Norfolk District Council decided to acquire an eco-friendly toilet facility for a remote beach location. The newly installed public toilet, located adjacent to the Weybourne beach car park, is a low-cost, eco-friendly alternative for human waste disposal.

The facility operates without the need for water, electricity or chemicals, instead using solar and wind power. The toilets are open 24/7 and a hand cleansing station is also provided. A solar-powered light provides illumination during nighttime hours. This new facility offers an innovative alternative to expensive, traditional public toilets, promoting sustainable tourism in the region.

Cllr Nigel Lloyd, NNDC’s Portfolio Holder for Environmental Services, Climate Change & Environment, commented:

“I am delighted that the Council have found an environmentally sound solution to the difficult problem of installing toilet facilities in locations where standard utility services are not available. These eco-toilets will cut our reliance on grid energy by using power from the sun and the wind, reduce our reliance on water resources and also minimise the environmental impacts of the waste produced. They are ideal facilities for deployment in rural areas of North Norfolk where standard utilities are not always available.”

Another Kazuba toilet unit has since been acquired by NNDC to be installed in the same location in order to deal with the high number of locals and tourists visiting the beach.
