CINDI Family is a waterless, electric incinerating toilet designed and approved for use in an environment similar to a regular bathroom. It has a user friendly display with easy access where you can adjust incinerating time, see status on the toilet and change language. The display also show you when it is time to empty the ash tray, clean the ash pan or clean the smoke pipe (a simple process involving filling the ash pan with water and putting the toilet on an incineration cycle).
CINDI family is optimised for use in a tiny house, in the family cabin or in any building that isn’t connected to the regular sewer system. It only needs ventilation and Power (230V – around 10A) to function. It has the capacity to handle toilet waste from up to six persons in the household. It is used when needed, even if someone else has just visited the toilet. It keeps track on how many uses and adapts the incinerating length to meet the demand.
When no programme is running, and the toilet is in standby mode, the fan constantly operates at low speed. The purpose of this is to let moisture ventilate out of the toilet and to prevent cold air from getting into the toilet through the pipe. When an incineration programme is running, the fan draws air through the incineration chamber to constantly add oxygen to the incineration process. This also enables hot air and smoke to flow through the pipe and out of the chamber.
IMPORTANT! As long as the toilet is attached to the ventilation pipe, the power should be turned on. When the fan spins, it prevents moist air from entering the toilet. If the power is turned off, the toilet should be disconnected from the pipe and the pipe plugged to prevent moist air from entering.
Due to the nature of the heating element and other factors, Cindi is not suitable for installation in moving vehicles (RV’s & motor homes etc) that might be subject to excessive vibrations and movement.
CINDI Family is a safe toilet. It has a wide array of built-in safety systems that closely monitors the temperature in the oven, inside the toilet and the ventilation temperature. It is also fitted with at “stand-alone” overheat protection that works outside the regular firmware. If the temperature in any location gets higher the normal the incinerating process automatically shuts down and the display informs you of this. The CINDI family is fitted with a magnetic sensor that pauses the incinerating process when you use the toilet, only to resume when you close the lid after use. It is also fitted with overvoltage protection to make sure the PCB and cabling are protected during a power surge.
Before your visit, place a bag in the bowl, the bag protects the bowl from the faeces and limits the need for cleaning. Place the bag by lifting the lid and seats, then place the bag. Once the bag is placed, the toilet is ready to be used. When the visit is completed, use the flush lever to open the hatch to the incineration chamber. When the flush lever is pressed down and the bag of waste falls down to the incineration chamber, release the flush lever and start the incinerating process by selecting a program (large or small). Even if the toilet already is in an ongoing incineration process, it is extremely important to both flush and to implement a program. Always start an incineration program after your visit.
Emptying the Ash Pan
When the ash pan is full (after around 50 toilet visits), the message ASH PAN EMPTIED? is shown on the display. Press NO (right button) in order to continue with the incineration program. When the incineration is finished and the toilet has cooled down, empty the ash. The next time an incineration program is started you will see the same message again and then you press YES (left button) if you have emptied the ash.
Maintenance and Cleaning
In addition to normal cleaning with a damp cloth the display notifies when it is time to clean the ash pan, cleaning operation also means that the catalyst and the furnace cleaned by water vapour formed. This is done after the ash is emptied – 1 litre of water is poured into the ash pan and the program started. The display also tells you when the smoke pipe needs to be swept, this is done by using a steel brush that comes with the toilet, and a vacuum cleaner. For ease of service and cleaning, it is not recommended that the toilet is fixed to the wall or the floor.
For long and trouble-free service, please observe the following:
- Always install the vent pipe vertically, according to the manufacturers’ instructions
- Always ensure sufficient fresh air is available (either by using the air inlet with the optional ventilation kit or by following the manufacturers’ guidelines on airflow)
- Always use a paper bowl liner, regardless of what you’ve done
- Always ‘flush’ immediately after each use
- Always press the incinerate button when you’ve ‘flushed’ the toilet
- Observe the service indication (the heating element will need replacing after 1-3 years, depending on the amount of use). This is likely to cost around £250 plus call-out charge
For your incinerating toilet to function optimally, it needs regular maintenance. If the toilet is used in a permanent home it is recommended to service the toilet once every year and for holiday homes every two years. The service is carried out by a Separett authorised service partner (if available) or by returning the toilet to a service centre. During the service, the toilet is inspected and cleaned thoroughly. Worn parts are replaced as needed and your toilet will be as good as new. By servicing regularly you ensure that you have a well-functioning product for many years to come. Servicing costs and replacement parts (replaced due to wear and tear) are not covered by the warranty. The typical cost of a service (including the element) is around £250 plus a call out charge if required.
The following is included with the toilet: Long bend Ø110 mm 90°, cleaning brush, dimensional drawing, 100 in no. bags, windcowl, chisel, O-ring and extra fuses.
In addition to the toilet, you will also need the VENTILATION KIT.

Delivery Information concerning your Separett Cindi toilet
Your Cindi incinerating toilet will be delivered on a pallet and has a total weight of around 40kg. Most deliveries will be made by a specialist haulier who will deliver ‘kerbside’ (i.e. they can offload the pallet from the truck onto the pavement near your property). We cannot guarantee that the truck is equipped with a pallet lift and if it is, the path to your property must be smooth concrete or tarmac for it to be safe to use. Please ensure that you have sufficient people on hand to move the Cindi into your property – usually, two people can move the box once it’s off the pallet.
Pallet delivery to mainland UK (excluding certain Scottish Highland & Island destinations) is FREE OF CHARGE, however, if your area falls outside of the free delivery area, we will contact you to discuss any additional delivery charges.
